Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma expressed his delight at being invited to the function in Biate, a town notable for producing 41 Pastors, 7 MLAs, and 1 MP. He praised the accomplishments of renowned Mizo personality Pu L. Malsawma Colney and the town's remarkable achievement of winning Mizoram's Cleanest Village award six times. Extending his YMA Day greetings to all YMA members in Mizoram and abroad, he lauded the villagers' cleanliness and hard work as exemplary. "Keep moving forward," he advised.
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted various societal challenges. He emphasized the crucial role of YMA members in tackling these issues to prevent them from undermining the country and nation. "Water and soil management systems need to be improved," he stated, noting the concerning rise in early deaths, divorce, incurable diseases, cancer, and vices. He also voiced his concern over the increasing number of young people engaging in detrimental activities and lamented the erosion of traditional Mizo values. He urged every YMA member to address these challenges.
During the event, Chief Minister Lalduhoma made a donation of Rs. 3,00,000 to the Biate Branch YMA for their homeless shelter project. He assured that he would follow up on their other needs as soon as possible. The Chief Minister was accompanied by JK Dawngzuala, Chairman of ZIDCO.
YMA Day is a yearly event in Mizoram and among Mizo communities elsewhere, celebrating the founding of the Young Mizo Association on July 15, 1935. YMA is currently one of the largest philanthropic non-governmental organizations in India.
