Mizoram The Least Represented State At Republic Day Parade

The last tableau of Mizoram seen in the Republic Day parade ( Republic Day 2010)

Is there "political bias" in republic Day parade Tableau selection?

Mizoram may be the only state in India unrepresented in New Delhi's Republic Day Parade for 11 Years Straight!

The last time a Tableau from Mizoram appeared to have shown up in New Delhi was in the 2010 Republic day parade.

Other states in the northeast especially Arunachal Pradesh and Assam get frequent representation in the event.

The Republic Day tableaus are evaluated and approved by an expert committee. The Subject Expert Committee has also rejected the proposals of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal tableaux for the 2022 Republic Day Parade. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee have accused "political bias" in the selection process and have written to Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention. However, an official of the Ministry of Defence has rejected the charge.

The display of Tabeleux by different states is an important part of India's Republic Day Celebration and offers states a chance to showcase their culture and identity to a national and international audience. The full list of tableaus to be displayed for this year's parade has not been released yet. However, it is very unlikely that Mizoram is shortlisted as there has been no news of Mizoram sending a proposal.
