Mizoram CM Social Media Handles Loses Thousands Of Followers Overnight - Know why

In an unexpected turn of events, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga's social media handles are losing followers by the thousands overnight. The phenomenon started happening on the evening of Thursday after the news of Mizoram government's transfer of Champhai DC Maria CT Zuali trended on various Mizo Social media circles. The news of the abrupt transfer has proven to be highly unpopular among the Mizo netizens who have in turn expressed their resentment and frustration online by unfollowing Mizoram CM's social media handles.

Among the Cm's Social media accounts, his Instagram page has been the most hit hard with @Zoramthangaofficial losing 3000 followers overnight and counting.

The Government of Mizoram on Thursday ( 13.01.21) issued a notification regarding the transfer and posting of several MCS officers in the state. Among them, Champhai DC Maria CT Zuali was also transferred from her current post to serve as FCSA and Planning addl.secretary in the capital.
DC Maria CT Zuali was under the limelight in 2021 for her operations against illegal trade in the Indo-Myanmar border district of Champhai. She made headlines when a group of alleged areca smugglers filed an FIR against her. Her abrupt transfer order has caused many conversations and anger especially among the many people who hail her as a state hero. Her story is currently trending on Mizo social media circles with many netizens expressing their displeasure and frustration over the transfer. Civil societies in Champhai have allegedly called for Champhai all NGOs emergency meetings over the issue. Illegal trade along the Indo-Myanmar border has been a long-standing issue in Mizoram, due to the porous border between India and Myanmar at Champhai district, many illegal items including drugs and uncleared goods cross into Mizoram from Myanmar every day. While drugs and gold have been the bulk of illegal trade that is being transported, the transport of illegal foreign cigarettes and areca nut are increasingly becoming popular. These foreign items including cigarettes and areca nuts directly hurt the business of local producers in the state who have called on the government to take steps in curbing down these illegal trades. While the Government with cooperation from the armed forces has taken initiative at trying to curb the menace, civil & Cooperative societies have repeatedly expressed the alleged presence of partiality and nepotism on these government-sponsored operations. Zoramthanga's government recent move to transfer Champhai Deputy Commissioner Maria CT Zuali who has been instrumental in the fight against illegal trades have raised several questions and brows among the public.
