In his address as the chief guest, Chief Minister Lalduhoma commended the CYMA and its anti-drug wing, CADS, for their "tireless fight against the drug menace." He emphasized the critical need for continued collaboration between the state government and civil society organisations to protect Mizoram from the devastating impact of narcotics, urging a "collective resolve to save lives."
The ceremony, which began at 8:00 AM, was chaired by Central YMA President Lalhmachhuana. A comprehensive report on the anti-drug operations was presented by General Secretary Prof. Malsawmliana, while Treasurer Roneihthanga provided an overview of the YMA’s broader strategies and successful seizures.
According to the report, the destroyed consignment was the result of extensive operations by the CADS. The total value of the disposed narcotics was precisely calculated at ₹42,927,600.
The seizure included a significant quantity of high-value drugs, notably 861 packs of heroin and 1,498 containers of methamphetamine tablets (locally known as 'tictac'), which alone accounted for ₹3.05 crore of the total value. Other substances destroyed included methamphetamine, Tramadol, Alprazolam, ganja, codeine, and illicit alcohol.
In connection with these seizures, CADS apprehended 809 individuals. Of those, 440 were provided with counselling, and 37 were admitted to rehabilitation homes and centres. Highlighting the squad's co-operation with state agencies, 48 individuals were handed over to the Excise & Narcotics Department and four to the Mizoram Police for further legal action.
