My first visit to Aizawl by Sominthang Doungel

All the people possess genuine hospitality towards visitors, foreigners, or expatriates.

Yes indeed! Mizoram is a state in India where one can feel safe and at home." - Sominthang Doungel

While arriving Lengpui Airport Mizoram on January 26, I was a bit nervous as I barely know any Aizawlian locales, but I still stayed positively calm knowing that we are linguistically, culturally and ethnically the same group of people. Several Subtribes viz:- Lushei, Kuki, Lais, Maras, Hmars, etc.., who are now inhabiting the entire parameters of Mizoram are called the Mizos. The Chin in Chin Hills of Myanmar, the Kukis in Manipur, Assam, Nagaland and other parts of India speaks their own dialects but practically have no problem of communication amongst them.

Reaching Aizawl we spent our first night at Mizoram Tourist Centre at Zotlang and the following day we decided to move to Chawnpui veng. ZRS Homestay at Vankhama Mual was selected. From the first night till our last day, we were taken care of at ZRS and all our needs were anticipated. The excellent hospitality provided to us made us feel at home. The generosity and friendly treatment we experienced at ZRS Homestay built up a genuine relationship and friendship which made us feel like we were also one of their family members. Throughout our six days in Aizawl, my friend Pu Amang Hawkeep was fully absorbed in imparting Blockchain and Cryptocurrency education to his acquaintances who visited us, while I would skip out and rambled around in Aizawl.

Most of the day I visited places to look at and did some shopping too. About 4 km from our hotel is the Durtlang Hills which is located on the northern side of Aizawl It is a popular attraction offering a panoramic view of the capital city, especially at sunset.
No list of gorgeous views is complete without a Solomon Temple located in Kidron Valley, Chawlhmun, towards the western side of Aizawl, which from its completion attracts hundreds of visitors every year.
" beautiful cliffs and virgin forests stretch away as far as the eyes can see and exudes an exotic charm of its own even at a glance. "

Aizawl the beautiful capital of Mizoram set on the ridges of steep hills overlooking the sylvan valley of the river Tlang and ranges of blue hills beyond. It is a city that has grown into the picturesque and most peaceful city in the Northeast of India.
A few kilometres away from the city are villages of historical significance where the Mizo way of life are still preserved. The mountains in Mizoram with beautiful cliffs and virgin forests stretches away as far as the eyes can see and exudes an exotic charm of its own even at a glance.

In Mizoram, one can also see the numerous brooks cascading down the narrow gorges to confluence into large meandering streams in the deep valley.
Mizoram was annexed in 1891 by the British who divided the area into North and South Lushei Hills with headquarters at Fort Aijal and Fort Lunglei respectively. Mizoram which became a district of Assam with the Independence of India was upgraded to a Union Territory in 1971 and finally made a full-fledged state of the Indian Union on 20th February 1987.

The Mizos are hospitable, carefree and peace-loving with no discrimination on the ground of sex, status or religion. The Young Mizo Association voluntarily assume the responsibility of helping the poor and needy.

Privileges are also being accorded to any active social volunteers and the state is conveniently free from insurgency problems and tribal conflicts that are often witnessed in other North-Eastern states.
Mizoram no doubt is the safest in Northeast India in terms of crime, personal safety and insurgency. Most people will not face any problems walking along the streets even alone at night. The local people are hospitable and welcoming. As a matter of fact, Mizos would usually greet their visitors with the phrase "Kan loulom ache'u" meaning, " You are welcome "They all have a positive outlook on out-of-Aizawlers. Hospitality trait is one of the greatest assets that the Mizos had. All the people possess genuine hospitality towards visitors, foreigners, or expatriates.
