Mizoram CM Requests Defense Minister For Land In Cantonment Area

Chief Minister Zoramthanga met Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and pleaded for more space in the cantonment board area, as well as the deployment of Mizo paramilitary forces along the border with Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Yesterday, the Chief Minister met with the Defense Minister in New Delhi and expressed Mizoram's need for a location in the Cantonment Board area. When the opportunity for states to apply for land in the Cantonment Board area arises, the CM has asked the Defense Minister to act on the state's behalf. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh promised the Chief Minister that he would take the necessary steps and refer the matter to the appropriate authorities.

India-Myanmar border issues were also discussed among other matters. The Chief Minister expressed to the Defence Minister the need to deploy Mizo participating paramilitary force along the Bangladesh and Myanmar borders. Rajnath Singh said he would look into the matter and also advised the CM to also discuss it with the Home Minister. 

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Amjad Tak, Resident Commissioner, Mizoram House.
