Aizawl : Agriculture Minister Pu C. Lalrinsanga flagged off a consignment of 15.7 metric tonnes of Mizoram-grown pineapple to Haryana on Thursday at the Ch.Saprawnga Truck Terminal in Rangvamual.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that crops grown by Mizoram farmers being sold at a higher price are a positive development, but emphasised the need for more effort.
"As exciting as it is for farmers, more work is clearly required," he said, adding that he would like to encourage farmers in the state to increase their production because crop production in Mizoram is still insufficient to meet demands.

The pineapples were supplied by Tuichangral Organic Farmers Producer Corporation Ltd, which was established last year as part of Mission Organic Mizoram.

The corporation was founded by 500 pineapple farming households from eight villages in Khawzawl district: Khawhai, Sialhawk, Tlangmawi, Tlangpui, Chalrang, New Chalrang, Vangtlang, and Lungtan. Surifresh Extract Pvt Ltd, Sonipat Haryana, purchased the fruits from seven villages.
