Aizawl July 11, 2023: Mizoram’s Health Minister, Dr R Lalthangliana, honoured Pi C Zopari, a recipient of the National Florence Nightingale Award, with a citation and monetary award today. The award is the highest honor for nurses in India. The presentation took place at a small function at his office at MINECO. Dr. R Lalthangliana congratulated Pi C Zopari on receiving the prestigious award and expressed his hope that her achievement would inspire others. He noted that Mizos excel in the nursing sector and stressed the importance of their role in promoting the image of Mizoram. Pi C Zopari thanked the state government for recognizing her achievement and shared that she had spent most of her career working in rural areas where medical facilities are scarce. She said that she had always tried her best to provide the best care possible, even at her own expense. The National Florence Nightingale Award was presented to Pi C Zopari, a retired Ward Superintendent from Dinthar, Aizawl, by President of India Droupadi Murmu at Rastrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on June 22, 2023.
